YIELD: serves 5-6

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 lemon in slices
  • juice from one lemon
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 jar of grape leaves


    1. Wash and blanch the leaves in boiling water 2-3 minutes. Remove and refresh in cold water, let them drain.
    2. Boil the rice with the onion powder, garlic powder, salt, thyme, and beef broth. Let it cool.
    3. With a dolma machine, make the dolmadakia and place them packed neatly side by side in rows.
    4. Add 2- 3 cups water, olive oil, the juice of the lemon, lemon slices, and a plate on top and boil them for 20-25 minutes in medium heat.
